Transit Alliance of Middle Tennessee (TAMT) is thrilled to announce the appointment of three new board members, Mayor Shane McFarland, City of Murfreesboro; Dale Hall, Regions Bank; David DeVaul, Pinnacle Financial Partners.

“The Board of Directors is comprised of community and business leaders committed to building support for funding regional transit through their strong and stable leadership,” said Jessica Dauphin, President and CEO of the Transit Alliance. “We look forward to the talent, expertise, and energy of new members David, Dale, and Mayor McFarland to guide the work to meet our mission.”

David DeVaul is from Iowa and came to Nashville in 2010 as a Commercial Vocal Major at Belmont University’s School of Music. Currently, David serves the music industry as a financial advisor at Pinnacle Financial Partners and is also a signed songwriter to OEG Music Publishing. David is an active board member of 4:13 Strong helping troubled men in Nashville get a 2nd chance. At the same time, also a member of a Music Business Non-Profit in Nashville, SOLID, that helps connect, educate, and grow future leaders in the music business. “For three years, I commuted to work by bicycle and saw the city with new, fresh, and exciting eyes. It is challenging to make that commitment, but it is doable, and I’m excited to help make that challenge more accessible for future commuters in Nashville, TN.”
Shane McFarland is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. He served as the 1995-1996 MTSU Student Body (SGA) President and received his BA in Accounting in 1997. He is a 1998 Graduate of Leadership Rutherford.
McFarland was elected Mayor of Murfreesboro in 2014 after serving eight years on the City Council. He has helped guide the country’s number 1 “boomtown” with programs for renewed downtown development, recruiting corporate jobs, enhanced parks and recreation offerings, additional public safety facilities, and a renewed focus on Customer Service.
While Mayor, some of his accomplishments include: Development and improvement of downtown infrastructure and services, numerous road projects, the new construction of a $40 million police Headquarters, The Miracle Field, Siegel Soccer Complex, Kasai North America Head Quarters relocation, Notes Live Entertainment Amphitheater and the creation of a citywide health initiative called the Better Boro Project.
The Mayor has previously served on the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Commission, the Old Fort Golf Commission, the Murfreesboro Pension commission, the Murfreesboro Planning Commission, and the Murfreesboro Historic Zoning Commission.
His hobbies include distance running and aviation.
McFarland owns Shane McFarland Construction, a custom residential and commercial construction firm. His company has been recognized nationally as one of the industry leaders in residential and commercial construction. He is married to Ashley McFarland, and they have three boys, Luke and Eli (twins) and Drew. He and his family have attended World Outreach Church since 2000.
O. Dale Hall, II, is the Senior Vice President, Regional Portfolio Manager in Nashville, Tennessee
Mr. Hall joined the firm in 2001 and is the Mid-America Regional Manager responsible for leading investment teams in Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Alabama. Additionally, Mr. Hall manages personal, charitable, and institutional assets for trust and investment management accounts. He is the lead liaison for the Portfolio Management Group’s Advisory Council, helping improve and develop firm-wide strategy and efficiency measures. Mr. Hall’s industry experience began in 1997, starting on the brokerage side with Merrill Lynch. Mr. Hall received his B.S. in Finance/Investment Management from the University of Alabama and his Master’s of Business Administration (Economics concentration) from Auburn University, where he graduated with distinction. Mr. Hall is a current member of the CFA Society of Tennessee.
The mission of the Transit Alliance is to build support for funding regional transit. Their award-winning educational program, Transit Citizen Leadership Academy (TCLA), is designed to give participants the tools and resources to lead conversations about transit in their networks. Other highly respected programs of The Alliance include a STEM curriculum for high schoolers focusing on transportation, transit planning, engineering, and their new community engagement, Transit Together. About the Transit Alliance
The Transit Alliance was founded in 2009 and immediately began building support for funding regional transit. The Alliance believes a robust multimodal transportation, including meaningful investments to improve regional transit options is critical to the future of Middle Tennessee. Transit supports a sustainable and recovering economy, promotes healthier and safer communities, improves the environment by lowering Co2, and builds pathways toward equity by facilitating access to enhanced quality of life markers like education, jobs, and healthcare.
